Controlling constipation is very important!  In some ways moving your bowels is even more important than not eating sugar. If you do not think you are making the progress you should on ThreeLac/FiveLac and OE+, you need to look at getting your bowels moving more.  Tom got stalled in the middle of the process because he was constipated, even though he was going once per day. Once he concentrated on his bowels and started moving better (2-3 times per day) he started making progress again.

If this material can’t get out of your system it is possible that the healing process will stop dead in its tracks. 

What is constipation? The medical community’s definition of constipation is as follows: “Constipation is the passage of small amounts of hard, dry bowel movements, usually fewer than three times a week. People who are constipated may find it difficult and painful to have a bowel movement. Other symptoms of constipation include feeling bloated, uncomfortable, and sluggish.” However, in a healing process, it is very important to have at least 1 soft bowel movement per day and more if possible (2-3 are ideal).

What causes constipation? To understand constipation, it helps to know how the colon (large intestine) works. As food moves through the colon, it absorbs water while forming waste products, or stool. Muscle contractions in the colon push the stool toward the rectum. By the time stool reaches the rectum, it is solid because most of the water has been absorbed. The hard and dry stools of constipation occur when the colon absorbs too much water or if the colon's muscle contractions are slow or sluggish, causing the stool to move through the colon too slowly. How to get your bowels moving.

1.  Hydrate your bowel - get plenty of water.  You should be drinking 1/2 your body weight in fluid ounces. If you way 150 lbs, you should be drinking 75 ounces of water per day. Liquids add fluid to the colon and bulk to the stool, making bowel movements softer and easier to pass.

2.  Take a magnesium supplement.  Many people with candida also have magnesium deficiencies (see bonus #1) and this deficiency can cause constipation.  You can safely take between 500-750 mg of this mineral - the best magnesium supplement we have found in Natural Calm magnesium.  It can make a difference in just about 24 hours! This is probably the most efficient, most consistent and least expensive option

2. Get a good fiber supplement.
  We heartily recommend LOCLO Fiber. It is not a harsh fiber for most and it not only gets your bowels moving, but it will wrap around the dead candida and toxins in the bowel and carry it out of your system! This fiber in conjunction with the ThreeLac is helping to make this candida cleanse very easy to get through. The Loclo contains pysillium hull and is not as potentially constipating as pysillium husk, but you should still drink plenty of water with it. Other fibers that will do are metamucil, benefiber.

3.  Get some exercise! Walking is a wonderful way to stimulate a bowel movement.

4.  Lubricate your bowel with essential fatty acids found in fish oil, borage oil and flax.
