Why I LOVE LOCLO!

Unlike my husband (who has an iron will when it comes to food), I do have a little problem with self-control when it comes to sweet things.  He has the ability to just say "no", where I (every once in a while) do like to indulge my sweet tooth and so my story begins....  Keep in mind, this just happened in about May of 2006 (the candida issues were under control, I had recently had a very intensive parasite cleanse and was as healthy as a horse when these events transpired).

I had been dying to have a breakfast bar. A total no-no from a sugar perspective, of course. However, I had the candida under control and just really WANTED one, so I bought two boxes of South Beach Diet breakfast bars at our local grocery store. On the way out of the store I congratulated myself on being able to indulge my cravings without cheating on sugar; no sugar in those things for sure.  Over the next 4 days, I ate ALL of the bars (there were about 10). I may have shared one out to my daughters, but, I very selfishly kept the rest all to myself and, boy, but were they good. They hit my craving perfectly - I was very satisfied.

However, at about day 3 of the bars, I noticed some itching.  Nothing major, but I kept having to itch my body somewhere. The place was constantly shifting, too; sometimes my head, sometimes my arm, sometimes my stomach.  I thought to myself that this was pretty unusual, but didn't give it much thought as I finished up the last of my breakfast bars (yumm).  Then I started noticing that I was breaking out in hives. Weird - I wondered, "what was going on?"  By the next day, most of the itching had settled into my feet and it seemed as if I was having to walk funny.  Another 24 hours went by and the soles of my feet were swollen and red. My feet were burning and sore and I could not stand on them for longer than a few minutes.  I was miserable in others ways as well, but the itching/burning sensation in the feet was all-consuming.  I was headachey, tired and breaking out in hives every day. Sleeping was absolutely impossible with the pain and itching in my feet; I had no idea what was going on.

Finally, I began to have some suspicions about the breakfast bars and eventually looked at what was in them; the first 3 ingredients were soy.  Now, I have no trouble with soy for people who can tolerate it; there are a lot of folks out there who love and thrive on soy. But for me - it's a different story.  I have a sensitivity to soy.  I have always had trouble with soy sauce and other things; probably from having had soy formula as a child or maybe just a genetic thing.

I had never felt symptoms as dramatic as what I was currently experiencing, but then I had never had so much soy over such a short period of time.  I started looking at what else I was taking and I was taking soy in my supplements, too. I had a couple of hundred milligrams per day in a vitamin E that I was taking and found it in many of the other foods I was eating at the time, too.  Eureka!! I figured out that I was having an allergic reaction to the soy and I got up to take some benadryl.  I almost made it, too... but on the way to the medicine cabinet I about blacked out.  I stumbled back to the bed (it was about 11:30 PM) and did "half" pass out.  I "got" to experience bad tinnitus first-hand for about 30 seconds and had the most difficult time talking to Tom, who was only a few minutes away from deciding to take me to the ER.  Tom got me some benadryl and in a few minutes, the benadryl had calmed things down somewhat, but my blood stream was so toxic from the allergic reaction that I was still pretty sick.  This is where the LOCLO comes in.  My herbalist saw me the next day and could tell that my blood stream was extremely toxic. She recommended the LOCLO fiber to me and I started taking it faithfully every day. I would take 1 tablespoon in the morning on an empty stomach with 8 ounces of water and another tablespoon before bed.  I noticed an improvement in the itching and hives within just a few days.  I was so very thankful.  It took about 6 weeks to get all of the garbage from the allergic reaction out of my system.  After 4 weeks from starting the LOCLO, I no longer had any hives, itching or swollen burning feet.

This personal experience is the reason why I love this fiber. It took me back to normalcy from a very scary place. I have first hand experience in its benefits and I would recommend this fiber hands down to anyone struggling with toxiticy issues.  I take my LOCLO every morning now and I think I'll pass on the South Beach Diet breakfast bars for a very long time....

Take Care!
